First night of Double Decker draws tens of thousands; Festival continues today

Friday night’s kick-off to the Double Decker Arts Festival drew a large crowd around the North Lamar stage as folks enjoyed the music of The Band of Heathens, Ole 60,  The Great Dying, and headliner Charlie Crockett.

The festival continues today at 10 a.m., featuring more than 140 art vendors and dozens of food vendors.

Before the festival begins, thousands of folks are running through the streets of Oxford for the Double Decker Spring 5K, 10K and Kids’ Fun Run this morning.

The Square Fair for children is in the Lafayette County Chancery Building parking lot. Admission is $20 per child for unlimited games and rides. As with shuttle service, no cash will be accepted—only Venmo or credit/debit cards.

A full day of live music starts at 10 a.m. with the Rust College A’Cappella Choir, followed by Cedric Burnside at 11:30 a.m., Seratones at 1 p.m., Water Liars at 2:30 p.m., Cimafunk at 4 p.m. and The Record Company at 5:30 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m., art and food vendors, along with the children’s Square Fair, will close—but the music continues.

The evening lineup continues with Houndmouth at 7 p.m., followed by headliner Grace Potter at 8:30 p.m.

The good news is that the previously forecast rain seems to have gone away. According to the National Weather Service,  today is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high near 82. Tonight will be cloudy with a low of 60 degrees; however, no rain is currently expected tonight.
