The Force will be strong at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center on May 4, as the Oxford community comes together for an evening of laughter, unity and compassion.
The special Star Wars-themed improv comedy event promises not only galactic fun but also a powerful purpose: raising funds to support the family of Marc Schnider, a local resident who battled renal cell carcinoma last year.
The event will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on May 4 at the Powerhouse off University Avenue.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online here. Online sales will close at 6 pm on May 4th. Tickets will be on sale at the door.
Though Schnider’s treatment was ultimately successful, the financial toll has been significant due to the lack of health insurance at the time.
The fundraiser is a collaboration of Matthew King, co-founder of WRKStreams, LLC; Wayne Andrews, executive director of the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and David Hamilton, director of Anubis Improv.
The event will feature a fast-paced, all-ages improv comedy show with a galaxy-sized dose of Star Wars references and interactive fun. Whether you’re a Jedi Master, Sith Lord or just someone who enjoys a good laugh, the show promises a night to remember.
All proceeds — including ticket and bar sales — will go directly to Schnider’s family to help with medical expenses.
