‘Bless Your Heart’ author at Thacker

Author and internet sensation, Landon Byrant, brings his humorous observations on Southern life to the season finale of the Thacker Mountain Radio Hour, this Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Powerhouse Arts Center.
Admission is free and the public is invited. Doors will open at 5:30 pm for refreshments; showtime is 6 p.m.
Other guests will include country rockers, Will Griffith and The Great Dying and gospel/R&B performer, Damien Wash. The show is hosted by Jim Dees with Paul Tate and the Yalobushwhacker Big Band.
The Powerhouse Arts Center is located at 413 South 14th St.
Landon Bryant, of Laurel, has attracted nearly 500,000 followers worldwide on Instagram (@LandonTalks) and YouTube. His laid-back pronouncements on Southern culture are now collected in a book, Bless Your Heart – A Field Guide to All Things Southern (Running Press).
From the best mayonnaise to favorite grandparent names to the meaning of “fixing to,” Byrant has struck a chord with Southerners and non-Southerners alike.
Will Griffith, known musically as The Great Dying, is a Mississippi Delta-born, singer-songwriter residing in Oxford. The Great Dying blends dark country with punk and alternative rock. The band’s latest album is A Constant Goodbye (Dial Back Sound).
The Great Dying will also perform at the Double Decker Arts and Music Festival in Oxford on Friday at 5 p.m.
Oxford native Damein Wash has spent a lifetime pursuing music across a diverse world of genres, beginning with the Southern gospel tradition. An avid performer, Wash has taken his music to cities across the United States and Europe.
For his Thacker appearance, Wash will appear with a full band and back-up singers.
The Thacker Mountain Radio Hour can be heard in Oxford every Thursday at 6 p.m. on WUMS, (92.1 FM), and every Saturday night at 7 p.m. on Mississippi Public Broadcasting (90.3 FM).
The next live Thacker event will be on Thursday, May 15. The show will hold a “Thacker-Oke Fundraiser” at 8 p.m. at Proud Larry’s. Tickets are $20 and give attendees a chance to sing karaoke, live onstage with the show’s house band, the Yalobushwhwackers.
Proceeds go towards the show’s Fall 2025 season, which begins on Thursday, Sept. 4.
