Oxford musician Izzy Arthurs has two upcoming local performances, at The Powerhouse on Tuesday, April 22, and Proud Larry’s right off the Square on Thursday, April 24 – the evening before the Double Decker Arts Festival.

The first will be a free full-band acoustic show beginning at 5 p.m. and featuring a music video premier and exclusive merchandise drop, “Hopefully drawing in the tastemakers of Oxford,” said Izzy.

She also plans to introduce the first single, called “The Skeptic,” from her upcoming debut EP.

She described the song as “A playful take on what it’s like to fall for somebody when you’ve always been guarded.”

Izzy added, “At the end of the day, we all kind of give ourselves over to being a fool for love. We don’t really stand a chance if we are the cynical, safe-playing kind of person.”

Her ticketed headlining show at Proud Larry’s will start at 9 p.m. and is fresh off the heels of a Feb. 22 show at the popular Oxford music venue. She called it her “best performance yet,” although the alluring singer-songwriter is ready for her “next best performance,” which is bound to be this upcoming appearance.

The most pervasive thing in her songwriting now is “trying to figure out life through the eyes of a young person,” said Izzy. “It’s a very painful and beautiful kind of thing.”
