Along with chapters all over the United States, the Junior Auxiliary of Oxford is celebrating National JA Week this week.
This annual observance is a time to honor the mission of Junior Auxiliary and the amazing volunteers who make it all possible.
National JA Week is part of a nationwide initiative by the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, which unites more than 15,700 women across seven southeastern states in a shared mission: “Caring Hearts. Helping Hands. Changing Lives.”
The Junior Auxiliary of Oxford recently hosted the highly successful Spring Fling, held on April 5, at The Powerhouse. The Masters-themed afternoon brought together people from the Oxford and Lafayette County community for live music, delicious fare and golf-inspired fun—all in support of JA Oxford’s local service projects.
The event raised over $88,000, thanks to the generous support of the many sponsors and donors, including presenting sponsor, The Meek Foundation. Funds raised from Spring Fling directly support community-focused programs, including Camp Sunshine, CASA Cares, Crown Club, and more.
“This is such an exciting week for us,” said Bess Fisher, president of Junior Auxiliary of Oxford. “Spring Fling was a tremendous success, and a great reminder of what can be accomplished through the collective work of many hands—and of how supportive our community is of the work we do. National JA Week gives us a chance to say thank you and highlight the impact made possible by that support.”
Junior Auxiliary of Oxford is comprised of 76 active members, each of whom commits to at least 54 hours annually, in addition to fundraising and leadership responsibilities. The chapter’s efforts are funded primarily through its annual Spring Fling and supported by numerous sponsors and donors throughout the community.
“Our mission is simple but powerful—to make a difference in the lives of local children through meaningful service,” said Spring Fling co-chair Coco McDonnell. “And none of it would be possible without the incredible support we receive from Oxford and Lafayette County.”
Fellow co-chair Olivia Maxwell added, “We’re deeply grateful to our sponsors, donors, and volunteers whose generosity made this year’s Spring Fling such a success. Their partnership fuels the work we love and helps us reach the families who need it most.”
In the past year, Junior Auxiliary of Oxford has served 2,830 community members and contributed 3,896 service hours through 11 impactful projects, such as Camp Bats & Balls with Ole Miss Baseball, Camp Sunshine, and CASA Cares.
