Two candidates appear to be headed toward an April 22 runoff to decide who should represent District 23 in the Mississippi House.
Unofficial results from Tuesday’s special election show Perry Bailey and Colby Bollinger had the most votes in the district that includes Calhoun, Lafayette, Pontotoc and Webster counties.
In Lafayette County, only 191 voted on Tuesday. Most votes, 82, were for Bollinger with Bailey taking the second highest number of votes at 43 votes. Andy Clark received 28 votes. Danny Lampley received 9 votes and Travis Write received 29.
Across the entire district, Bailey received 1,183 votes, or 41 percent, while Bollinger finished second in the field of five with 938 votes, or 33 percent.
The two are seeking the seat held by the late Rep. Andy Stepp, who died in December.
