The Lafayette County Planning Commission approved the final plat for the Roundabout Oxford RV & Water Resort on Monday, marking a key step in the completion of the $25 million resort project located 3 miles west of Oxford.
Owner Jay Hughes provided an update to the Commission, highlighting the substantial progress made on the resort.
“All vertical structures have been built, and all air and heat systems are operational. We’ve installed over 70,000 square yards of sod and laid more than 400,000 miles of utilities underground,” Hughes said.
“While we’re not quite ready to open, we could literally open tomorrow, as the majority of the infrastructure is complete. We just need the remaining permits in place.”
Hughes said the final asphalt lift would be finished on the roadway leading into the resort.
Commissioner Kate Rosson asked about the fiberglass palm trees located near the entrance to the resort, along Highway 6. She said she’s had a few phone calls about the trees from residents who were not in favor of them, saying they didn’t look like Oxford.
Director of Development Services Joel Hollowell said since the fiberglass trees are not part of vegetative screening and are decorative, there is no county codes in place to prevent them from remaining.
Roundabout Oxford RV & Water Resort officially opened its reservation system on Feb. 18, with its grand opening scheduled for April 24 – Double Decker Arts Festival weekend.
Situated on 84 acres on Highway 6 West, the resort offers a range of luxury accommodations and amenities, including a lazy river, multiple pools, waterslides, miniature golf, and a fitness center. For locals, there will be Park & Play passes available for day-use access to the resort’s amenities.
The final plat will go before the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors for consideration next month.
