The Lafayette County Democrats will hold a Unite and Resist Rally at 10 a.m. Saturday in front of City Hall.

The Oxford Board of Aldermen approved the event permit during their regular meeting on Tuesday.

Event organizers claim “The event is more than just a demonstration—it’s a call to action for everyone ready to make a difference in their community and beyond.”

The rally will feature speakers discussing democracy, social justice and the environment. After the speeches, participants will march around Oxford Square.

Attendees will be asked to sign up for an action by completing an interest form, committing to one of three vital initiatives:

1. Elections – Engage in voter outreach, education, and mobilization to protect and enhance our democratic process.
2. Federal Worker Foodbanking – Support federal workers facing hardship by contributing to food distribution and relief efforts.
3. Environmental Protection – Join the fight against climate change through advocacy and sustainability initiatives.
