The Children’s Clinic of Oxford, which has provided pediatric care to Oxford, Lafayette County, and surrounding communities for nearly four decades, will close its doors on May 1.
Having served multiple generations of families, the clinic’s providers and staff expressed gratitude to their patients and families on a Facebook post Wednesday.
“Every patient I have treated holds a special place in my heart,” said Dr. Joe Harris. “I will particularly miss my ADHD and behavioral health patients, many of whom presented unique challenges. It has been my privilege to provide care, and I hope I have made a positive impact on their well-being.”
The goodbye message did not mention why the clinic is closing.
For families seeking continued pediatric care, the clinic has listed several alternative providers in the area, including Oxford Pediatric Group, Lafayette Pediatrics, Phillips Pediatrics, Health Connect, and Journey to New Beginnings. Additionally, a long-term storage facility will be available for medical records should families need access in the future.
Nurse Practitioner Paula Akers also expressed her gratitude on the post.
“Thank you to all the families who have entrusted me with their children’s care over the past 28 ½ years,” she said. “It has been an honor, and I have loved every moment of it.”
