Oxford tennis defeats Grenada in home opener

Oxford defeated Grenada 5-2 in the home opener for tennis at the John Leslie Tennis Courts on Monday afternoon.

Oxford’s Andrew Koestler defeated Gabrielle Reyna 6-0, 6-1 in boys singles.

Oxford won both boys doubles matches. Tal Turner and Van Turner won 6-1, 6-0 over Jack Leslie and Michael Cavanaugh while Grayson Cope and Rigby Devera shutout Ryan Williams and Traveon Mullen 6-0, 6-0.

Oxford won the mixed doubles match 6-3, 6-1 as Sam Shipman and Anna Prescott Smith defeated Seth Dorris and Mary Jac.

Oxford’s Allie Harris Flowers and Lotte Luger teamed to defeat Grenada’s Mary Klinck and Faith Arbuckle 6-2, 6-3 for the Chargers.

Grenada’s girls number 2 doubles team of Zoe Beane and Emily Finley beat Oxford’s Anna Garrett Henderson and Maddie Lowery in a close match 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), and 10-8.

Grenada’s Shanvi Cher beat Oxford’s Lainey Schusselin 6-2, 6-0 in girls singles.
