Lafayette shut outs New Hope

Lafayette girls soccer shutout New Hope 5-0 on Monday night in the Mississippi High School Activities Association’s Class 5A North Half title game at William L. Buford Stadium.

Caroline Perkins scored two goals in the last two minutes of the first half to break open a scoreless contest.

Perkins added a third goal in the second half with Rivers Rikard and Riley Kate Smith also scoring for the Commodores.

Lafayette (17-7) advances to the state title game, where they will face Florence (17-5) in a rematch of the 2024 championship match. Florence defeated East Central 2-1 on Monday night to win the South Half championship.

The championship game is scheduled for noon on Saturday at Germantown High School in Gluckstadt.
