Lots rain this week coupled with up and down temperatures

Get ready for another weather rollercoaster ride this week in north Mississippi – a wet rollercoaster ride.

Heavy rain is in the forecast for the next few days, starting in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, Lafayette County could see 4 to 6 inches of rain this week.

Showers are expected to arrive around 5 a.m. tomorrow and could be heavy at times. Tuesday’s high should reach 50 degrees with the low around 42 degrees overnight. The rain is expected to continue throughout the night Tuesday and into Wednesday. There is a chance of some thunderstorms after 3 p.m. The high on Wednesday is expected to reach 63 degrees; however, the temperature will drop to about 33 degrees overnight.

The rain should clear late Wednesday night, leaving Thursday under sunny skies but a chilly 47 degrees during the day and dropping to 28 degrees overnight.

Friday is also expected to be sunny with a high of 56 degrees and a low of 44 degrees.

Rain is then expected to return late Friday night and showers and thunderstorms are possible on Saturday. Some of the storms could be severe. The high on Saturday should be near 65 degrees and the low should hit 34 degrees.

While Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, the high temperature is only forecast to be around 44 degrees.
