Storms Sunday as temps drop drastically; some ice on roads possible

Meteorologists are still unsure whether an incoming cold front will cause any snow or ice to form Sunday night, but one thing they agree on – it’s going to get very cold.
The cold front is expected to roll in early Sunday morning bringing rain and a possible thunderstorm or two throughout the day into the evening. The high on Sunday is expected to reach 62 degrees and the quickly drop almost 40 degrees throughout the day to hit a low of about 26 degrees early Monday morning.
The chance of ice or other wintry precipitation depends on how fast the temps drop during the rain showers. However, with rain expected during the day, about 1.5 inches for Oxford, once those temps dip, the National Weather Service reported that ice and black ice could form – a 25-30% chance for Oxford — overnight on roads and bridges.
There is currently a slight risk for severe weather for Lafayette County between 2 and 10 p.m. on Sunday, with high winds, hail and tornado activity possible.
After the rain and storms clear, the high on Monday is forecast to be 34 degrees with a low around 22.
While no rain is expected Monday through Thursday, temperatures will remain winter-like, with highs around 32-35 degrees and lows 18-22 degrees at night.
Keep those pipes dripping.
