Our View: 2025

As we venture into the second quarter of the millennium, it’s hard to believe that the first 25 years have already passed. The start of the new millennium, back in 2000, brought with it widespread speculation and uncertainty—some even feared that Y2K would bring the downfall of the modern world. Thankfully, it didn’t.

Since then, we’ve experienced wars, the COVID-19 pandemic, unprecedented technological growth, the rise of conspiracy theories, historic presidential elections, and much more. Life has changed dramatically in just a quarter of a century. Even the streets of Oxford look vastly different today.

At the start of a new year, many people set resolutions in hopes of making positive changes in their lives. While experts often argue that these resolutions rarely stick, isn’t the true goal to continuously strive for self-improvement? Even when we stumble, the human spirit drives us to keep trying.

Here at The EAGLE, we share that same determination. We aim to improve every day, even as we face challenges that many news outlets are grappling with—smaller staff numbers, fewer printed editions, and the constant competition of social media platforms claiming to be news sources.

Despite these hurdles, our mission remains steadfast. In 2025, The EAGLE will continue working tirelessly to bring you accurate, unbiased local news. We may not always be perfect, but like New Year’s resolutions, we will persist in our efforts to grow and serve our community.

We at The Oxford EAGLE wish everyone a happy, healthy, and blessed year ahead.
