The Oxford Police Department arrested a Calhoun City man Thursday after responding to a shooting.

According to OPD, officers responded at about 7:04 p.m. to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi after receiving a report that someone had been shot.

The victim was driven to the hospital in a personal vehicle. They are listed in stable condition.

The suspect, Jowan Quintez Walker, 28, of Calhoun City, had left Oxford but was later apprehended by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.

Walker was charged with aggravated assault and is awaiting a bond hearing.
