The Lafayette County Election Commission will hold a runoff election on Tuesday, Nov. 26, for three races not decided in the General Election two weeks ago.
Candidates for Justice Court Judge – Second District, Election Commissioner – District 5, and Lafayette County School District Board of Trustees – District 3 will be on the runoff ballot.
All county precincts will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Eligible voters may participate in the runoff election, regardless of whether they voted in the Nov. 5 general.
For Justice Court Judge – Second District, Ley Falkner and Deanna McLarty made the runoff. Falkner received 21.1 percent of the first vote, and McLarty garnered 20.7 percent.
The seat was opened with the death of long-time Justice Court Judge Johnny Wayne McLarty, who died after a car crash in December.
For Election Commissioner – District 5, incumbent Debbie Black will face Tiffany Babb. In the general election, Black earned 33 percent of the vote and Babb took 38 percent.
For LCSD Trustee – District 3, incumbent Judith Thompson will have a runoff with Shane Russell. Two weeks ago, Russell led the ballot with 46 percent of the votes to Thompson’s 43 percent.
