An Oxford man has been arrested for allegedly putting razor blades on a “No parking” sign to keep people from blocking his driveway.
According to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to County Road 130 on Wednesday in regard to an injury.
They say Jason Scott Curle, 51, placed a sign on the property adjacent to his that had been affixed with sharp razor blades.
A woman attempted to move the sign and sustained minor injuries to her hand.
According to reports, the sign was placed on property owned by the school and not on Curle’s property.
Curle was charged with aggravated assault for purposely attempting to cause injury and taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center. He was released Thursday on a $20,000 bond.
According to Curle, people have been blocking the driveway to his home when dropping off and picking up students from Regents.
His wife, Michelle Curle, told the EAGLE they had attempted to speak to the school and county officials to fix the problem for several months. She said cars blocked her driveway every day, twice a day when dropping off and picking up students from the school.
County officials claim the Curles elected to buy property next to a school; however, they reported that they had recently spoken to the Curles and informed them that the county and school had plans to create more parking space to help alleviate the congestion near the Curles’ home that would occur after the Thanksgiving holiday.
