This Thanksgiving, two community events in Oxford, will bring warmth, food and togetherness to residents in need.
Sister, S.O.A.R. (Success Over Adversity – Redeemed), a nonprofit founded and directed by Min. Chris D. Jones, and former Rebel football player KD Hill, are both organizing free Thanksgiving meals to support the community.
On Nov. 23, Sister, S.O.A.R. will host its annual Thanksgiving Community Celebration. The event, now in its second year, is designed to support senior citizens, the homeless, and individuals facing financial hardship in Oxford-Lafayette and surrounding counties.
Beginning at 11 a.m. at the Stone Center in Oxford, this celebration will offer food and community spirit. Sister, S.O.A.R. has partnered with local organizations such as the Oxford Housing Authority, Interfaith Ministries, and the T.O.M.B.A. to identify attendees who would benefit from the event. While no registration is required, meals will be served on a first-come, first-served basis to an anticipated 100 participants. Volunteers will also deliver meals to those unable to attend.
The Thanksgiving Community Celebration has received generous donations from local businesses and churches, including Crumbl, Cricket of Oxford, The Chicory, Clear Creek MB Church, and East St. Peter MB Church.
Sister, S.O.A.R. is still accepting additional donations of desserts, casseroles, sodas, and household goods for door prizes. All contributions are tax-deductible, and items like personal care products and treats for children are especially welcomed.

Two days later, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 25, KD Hill will host the third annual Chucky Mullins Thanksgiving Dinner for Oxford Housing Authority residents.
This event, named in honor of Ole Miss football legend Chucky Mullins, will take place at The Inn at Ole Miss and promises to bring the community together for a night of gratitude and fellowship. Catering for the dinner will be provided by Taylor Grocery Special Events Catering, known for its Southern-inspired menu.
Transportation to the venue will be provided for residents of the OHA from CB Webb and Wayne Johnson Apartments via Cline Tours.
