College Board recently announced that Oxford High School has been named to the Advanced Placement Program School Honor Roll, earning a Bronze distinction — an honor only given to four public schools in the state of Mississippi.
The other three schools earning Bronze were Lewisburg High School, Madison Central High School and Petal High School.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access, according to CollegeBoard.
Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.
The AP School Honor Roll offers four levels of distinction: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
“Oxford High School’s recognition on the AP School Honor Roll is a testament to the commitment and hard work of our students, teachers, and entire school community,” said Bradley Roberson, superintendent of the Oxford School District. “This honor not only reflects our dedication to creating opportunities for all students to access college-level coursework but also underscores our focus on college readiness and empowering students to reach their fullest potential.”
Oxford High School was also awarded the Bronze distinction in 2023. There are 19 AP classes offered at OHS.
