Michael Joe Cannon, owner of Cannon Motors, welcomed attendees and thanked the loyal sponsors—Crossroads Animal Hospital, Delta Dog, Hollywood Feed, and PetSmart—who have supported the event every year since its inception.

This year’s contest was bigger than ever, with over 70 dogs competing for the title of Oxford’s Most Popular Canine.

Before introducing the winners, a moment of silence was led by Pluto, honoring the memory of Baxter,

beloved companion of Michael Joe and Cheryl Cannon, who sadly could not be part of this year’s

festivities.

After the tribute, it was time to reveal the champions.

Taking first place with an incredible 332 votes was Jet, joined by proud owner Hud Clark. Jet’s grand prize includes a feature in a Cannon Motors advertisement, a special ride with Cannon Motors in the Christmas parade, and a custom pet portrait by artist Rosie Vassallo.

Millie captured second place with 294 votes, celebrated by owner Taylor Jennings, while Atlas took third with 286 votes, cheered on by Sarah Garrett. Fourth place went to Doctor Strange, a fan favorite who gathered 171 votes.

Cannon announced that, with 1,083 votes cast, $1,083 would be donated to the Oxford Resource Center providing support for local pets in need.
