Oxford High School’s Career Technical Education program provides real-world experience for its students.
Recently, two first-year CTE construction core classes partnered with the Lafayette County Soil and Water Conservation District to construct wood duck boxes and bluebird houses.
This collaboration fostered hands-on experience and environmental stewardship among the students. The Lafayette County SWCD provided construction materials.
These wood duck boxes and bluebird houses will be donated to various residents of Lafayette County.
“Through building these birds and duck houses, I hope the students learned the value of hands-on conservation work and how their efforts directly impact the local environment,” said Justin Robinson, CTE Instructor of Construction and Electrical. “By contributing to the Lafayette County Soil and Water Conservation, they’re not only helping to protect wildlife habitats but also becoming stewards of the community’s natural resources.”
