With the possibility of heavy rain on Halloween, there are still a few events to take the little ones before Mother Nature rains down on Oxford.

Family Crisis Services will hold its annual Spooktacular Safestop tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lafayette County Arena. Put on your costumes, come get some candy and have some Halloween fun.

From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, head to Coleman Funeral Home for their annual Trunk or Treat.

The Lafayette County & Oxford Public Library will have trick-or-treating from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Halloween.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a 60 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and into the evening hours.

While the city of Oxford never officially changes the date for Halloween from Oct. 31, individual neighborhoods might decide to hold trick-or-treating on a different day. However, the only real way to know when/if that occurs is to check social media sites.

The Eagle will post any changes to trick-or-treating that we learn about on our Facebook page.
