Commodores fall to West Point

The Lafayette Commodores fell to West Point 41-11 in a home game on Friday night.
With this loss, Lafayette drops to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in district play.

West Point quickly took control in the first quarter, scoring twice to jump out to a 14-0 lead. Both touchdowns came from drives that started deep in Lafayette territory.
West Point continued to press, adding another touchdown later in the first quarter to extend their lead to 21-0.
At the end of the first quarter, the score stood at West Point 21, Lafayette 0.
West Point added to their lead with a touchdown in the second quarter, making it 28-0. Lafayette had a chance to score before halftime but missed a field goal attempt.

In the third quarter, Lafayette got on the board when a high snap on a West Point punt sailed out of the end zone for a safety, making it 28-2. On the ensuing drive, Kamaron Pritchard broke free down the sideline for a Commodores touchdown, cutting the lead to 28-9.

West Point responded with a touchdown drive of their own to extend their lead to 34-9, though their two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful.
In the fourth quarter, West Point found the end zone once more, stretching the lead to 41-9.
Lafayette got two more points as West Point snapped the ball over the punter’s head for a safety.
The Commodores will look to rebound on Friday when they travel to New Hope. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
