Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the recent sentencing of Jimmie Ray Fields of Lucedale, who will spend the rest of his life in prison.
On Oct. 2, George County Circuit Court Judge Calvin Taylor sentenced Fields to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with 40 years to serve for each of the 25 counts of child exploitation relating to his possession of child sexual abuse material.
All counts were ordered to run concurrently. Fields will be required to serve his sentence day-for-day without the possibility of parole. He will also have to register as a sex offender upon release.
This case was investigated by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office with assistance from the Lucedale Police Department and was prosecuted by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office and the George County District Attorney’s Office.
“This office is proud to partner with law enforcement and prosecutors from around the State to protect Mississippi’s children from predators,” said Attorney General Lynn Fitch. “Together, we are making Mississippi a safer place for everyone. If you suspect a child is being exploited or abused, please report it to my office. Your tip could save a life.”
