Southern Coop has relocated, and now customers can enjoy their signature wings while practicing their golf swing.
After six years at its original location on North Lamar Boulevard, the restaurant recently closed its doors and on Thursday, owners James and Jennifer Hudson offically opened their new location at 705 Sisk Avenue.
Southern Coop now shares space with Oxford GolfHouse, a golf simulator venue, in the storefront previously occupied by Southern Craft Stove + Tap.
“Customers will be able to enjoy their Southern Coop favorites while playing some golf,” Jennifer Hudson said. “We’re excited to offer a combination of great food and a variety of entertainment for the community.”
Hudson explained that while they were happy at their original location, the business outgrew the space. The Oxford Commons area, where their new location is situated, is a fast-growing community.
“It’s an up-and-coming area with a lot of development,” she added.
Thanks to its new woodstone oven, the restaurant still offers its original menu, with the addition of pizza.
“We now have a very unique, specialty pizza oven,” Jennifer said.
Regular customers Jaquan Webb and Deijanee’ Caldwell were among the first to visit Southern Coop’s new location.
Webb, a real estate agent, believes the move was a smart one.
“It’s a great location, especially with the nearby schools, high-end apartments, and million-dollar homes,” Webb said.
In addition to its food offerings, Southern Coop now features a full bar, serving a range of draft beers, from simple domestic options to specialty brews.
Southern Coop is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.
