Commodores fall to Memphis Central 21-14

The Lafayette Commodores fought back but came up short Friday to Memphis Central 21-14 during Lafayette’s homecoming game.
Lafayette had a defensive stop and a quick touchdown by Luke Anderson from nine yards out to take a 6-0 advantage in the second quarter.
Memphis Central answered late in the second quarter with a touchdown to take a 7-6 lead over Lafayette.
Memphis Central got the ball back before halftime and scored again with a touchdown to take a 14-6 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
In the third quarter, neither Lafayette nor Memphis Central could score.
Lafayette tied the game on a short touchdown run by Darius Brown. The Commodores quarterback Nick Thompson carried the ball in from 2 yards out to complete the conversion, tying the game 14-14.
Memphis Central answered on their next possession with a touchdown to go up 21-14.
Lafayette is off next week and will return to action on Oct. 11 when they play at Clarksdale.
