Rain and cooler temps return to north Mississippi this week as a cold front heads into the area, followed by a tropical system potentially bringing some tropical moisture to the region later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.
There is a slight chance of showers late this evening but the rain is more likely to roll into the area early Tuesday morning. The high for Tuesday is 81 degrees and rain is expected throughout the day and into the evening as the cold front moves in.
More rain is expected on Wednesday with a high of 77 degrees and a low of around 62 degrees.
Showers are possible on Thursday with a high of 74 degrees and a low of around 63 degrees.
The forecast for later in the week calls for a chance of rain Friday through Sunday; however, the chances could increase depending on the topical system in the Gulf of Mexico and what direction it takes, and how strong it becomes.
The highs are expected to be in the low to mid-70s through Sunday, with lows near 60 degrees.
