It was just good old-fashioned grueling football between Oxford and Grenada. However, Grenada won 41-22 on its home turf.

Oxford hurt itself with an interception on the first play from possession. Grenada scored on a pick 6 with 21 seconds off the first quarter clock and went ahead 7-0.

Oxford redeemed itself and led 16-14 at halftime after scoring with 16 seconds left.

With 50 seconds left in the third quarter, Grenada retook the lead 21-16. Oxford answered and had a slight 22-21 lead. That is about all the offensive power Oxford could muster. They were completely shut out in the fourth quarter as Grenada scored some insurance points.

Oxford will be back on the road next Friday to play Tupelo in the district opener at 7 p.m. Tupelo defeated Hernando tonight 35-6.
