A Tupelo man was arrested in Oxford for allegedly having a stolen gun.
According to the Oxford Police Department, on Aug. 21, OPD was conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on College Hill Road when a vehicle pulled up to an officer.
Due to a strong odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle, the officer gained probable cause to search the vehicle.
The officer allegedly saw narcotics in the front passenger floorboard where the passenger, Javion Foote, 20, of Tupelo, was sitting. Two firearms were located under the front passenger seat as well.
One of the firearms came back stolen out of Pontotoc.
Foote was then arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Foote was taken before a Municipal Court judge for his initial bond hearing.
