Bishop W.C. Martin, the inspiration for Angel Studio’s latest film “Sound of Hope,” will be in Oxford this Tuesday for a free event at 6 p.m. at The Powerhouse.
Come hear Martin share his story of rallying his church of 200 people to help the orphans in their community and 22 of their families adopted 77 kids more than two decades ago.
Alex Cortes, the executive producer of the podcast An Army of Normal Folks, will interview Bishop for 30-45 minutes and then there will be a Q&A.
There are 115k orphans in America and 400K houses of worship. If someone in only one out of every three of them adopts an orphan, there would be no orphans in America,” Cortes said. “You don’t have to be a member of a religion to adopt a child, but this frame of reference gives an idea of just how solvable our country’s problems are.”
The An Army of Normal Folks podcast is hosted by Oscar-winner & Ole Miss alum Coach Bill Courtney; however, he will not be at the event.
The event is free but seats are limited to 200 and registration is required. Online registration will close at 4 p.m. on Sept. 3.
