Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi recently celebrated 25 years of providing diagnostic services and treatment to patients with sleep disorder symptoms.
Baptist North Mississippi opened its first sleep center in May 1999. More than 5,000 sleep studies are conducted annually across Baptist’s network that monitor over 80 disorders affecting sleep. Baptist’s Sleep Disorders Centers treat a variety of sleep-related problems and disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome and periodic limb movement disorder, narcolepsy, parasomnias and insomnia.
Some studies indicate chronic sleep loss also may contribute to diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other age-related chronic disorders.
“Sleep affects everything we do in our daily lives,” said Dr. Jeffery Evans, medical director of the Baptist Sleep Disorder Center in Oxford. “Twenty-five years is a huge milestone. I’m very proud of our team and their dedication to providing this crucial care to our community.”
Baptist’s Sleep Disorders Centers use advanced digital technology and highly trained technicians to offer overnight polysomnographic monitoring and daytime nap testing. Testing is individualized based on the patient’s needs.
“Congratulations to the Baptist Sleep Center for this significant anniversary,” said Brian Welton, CEO and administrator of Baptist North Mississippi. “This is incredibly important work, and we couldn’t do it without Dr. Evans and his team.”
