One of Oxford’s most celebrated and anticipated events each year, the annual Double Decker Arts Festival has been named as one of the “Signature Events of the Southeast” by Southeast Tourism Society for the fourth time.
Each year, travel industry experts hand-select the best events to be highlighted across the United States. The complete list is published on both the Travel Media Press Room and Escape to the Southeast websites and recognized on all Southeast Tourism Society’s social media platforms.
“For more than 40 years, STS has been spotlighting the best festivals and events in the Southeast. Our goal is to highlight the efforts of devoted event organizers and provide additional media exposure and accolades for their events,” said Monica Smith, President and CEO of Southeast Tourism Society. “The Southeast offers so many unique, year-round, opportunities for tourists and festivalgoers to create memories and support the tourism industry-–a vital economic generator for communities.”
This year’s Double Decker Arts Festival took place on April 26-27, attracting thousands of people from around the world to celebrate Oxford’s vibrant mix of food, music and the arts. This year’s event drew in 100,300 guests throughout the weekend with renowned headliners such as Flatland Cavalry and Brittany Howard, along with art vendors, food vendors and a dedicated kids’ area for both visitors and residents to enjoy.
“Double Decker Arts Festival perfectly captures what makes Oxford so special and only gets better and better every year,” said Kinney Ferris, executive director of Visit Oxford. “We are delighted that this event, so dear to us in its 27th year, has been recognized as a Signature Event of the Southeast, allowing us to share Oxford’s rich culture with others.”
Events considered for the STS Signature Events of the Southeast recognition must be at least three years old and have an attendance of at least 1,000. Winning submissions are automatically judged in the Festival or Event of the Year category for STS’s Shining Example Awards.
