The 101st Airborn Division started the exercise on Aug. 4 and it will run through Sept. 4. The training exercise has been planned for several months and is designed to test and enhance the division’s preparedness.

A core element of this exercise is the execution of a Large-Scale Long-Range Air Assault, showcasing one of the division’s primary capabilities. The mission kicks off with the launch of nearly 80 Army helicopters from Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The helicopters, carrying soldiers, will make several refueling and resupply stops along their flight path before reaching their training objectives at Fort Johnson, Louisiana.

Key refueling and resupply stops are scheduled in Oxford and Tunica, as well as Monroe, Minden and Alexandria, Louisiana. Residents in these areas may notice an increased presence of U.S. Soldiers, military vehicles, and aircraft throughout the exercise period.

The Army has coordinated with local authorities in all affected communities to ensure smooth operations and minimize any potential disruptions caused by the increased military activity.
