Taylor man charged with robbery

A Taylor man was charged with robbery recently after allegedly stealing money from Rascals.

According to the Oxford Police Department, at 9:37 p.m. on Aug. 6, a call came in to 911 about a man coming behind the counter at Rascals on Belk Boulevard and taking money.

The suspect, later identified as Armando Nicholas Sanchez, 36, ran out of the store.

No one was injured.

Officers located the suspect a short time later and took him into custody.

He was booked into the Lafayette County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.

“This was a great team effort from the officers who were on shift and those who were at training but left to help. It’s what makes the Oxford Police Department special,” said Chief Jeff McCutchen.
