More Than A Meal, a nonprofit dedicated to providing weekly hot meals, essential toiletries, and tutoring services in Oxford, is resuming operations on Tuesday, Aug. 6 at a new location.
The new location will be at Central Elementary School, located at 409 Washington Ave.
Every Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m., More Than A Meal offers a hot meal, toiletries, and tutoring services for all ages in the Oxford and Lafayette County community, supplied by generous donors and volunteers.
For 14 years, More Than A Meal has been a cornerstone of the Oxford community, offering much-needed support and resources to individuals and families.
“Moving to Central Elementary School will allow us to better serve the Oxford community with increased space and improved facilities,” said Sarah Beth Gary, executive director of More Than a Meal. “We are thrilled to be back in session with the new school year, and we look forward to continuing our work of making a positive impact on the lives of our community members.”
The new location marks a significant milestone in the organization’s mission to enhance the lives of those they serve by providing a welcoming environment where community members can access nutritious meals, personal care items and educational support.
“When we started More Than a Meal in 2010, Oxford was much smaller and didn’t have a soup kitchen or a place for people from all walks of life to come together over a warm meal,” said founder Kristy Bridgers. “It’s been really special to see how it’s been embraced by our community. It’s a place where you can come as you are; everyone is welcome.”
More Than A Meal accepts volunteers of all ages to help serve food, engage with attendees, tutor students of all ages, or play with kids on the playground.
