The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office’s Youth Academy brought together area kids for a week filled with learning, excitement, and community engagement, culminating in a final day of some fun in the sun.
During the five-day camp last week, students learned about being safe on social media and online games, like Roblox and Snapchat, as well as general phone safety. They learned about health and hygiene as well as CPR.
The Lafayette County Fire Department stopped by to teach the campers some first aid and they got to check out the rescue truck.
They took trips to the 911 dispatch center and spent some time with Sheriff Joey East and some special K9 friends.
On Friday, the week culminated with Splash Day, where campers slid down water slides and enjoyed some frozen treats from Snowbiz.
