The Oxford Board of Aldermen last week approved the demolition of a delipidated house on Price Hill Drive.
The home, located at 130 Price Hill Drive, was deemed dangerous, unsafe, and unfit for human habitation by the city’s building official.
The homeowner was notified in April about the property’s designation and they were given 30 days to demolish the structure.
Building Official Johnathan Mizell told the Board that the property has been in disrepair for several years.
“It has been an ongoing issue at this site,” he said. “Code Enforcement has been out there many times.”
Mizell said the property had debris and junk cars and that both structures on the property needed to come down.
He said there has been a dumpster on site and some debris removed; however, the two run-down structures remain standing.
The homeowner did not attend the meeting.
The Board voted to hire a contractor at about $5,000 and place the cost of the demolition as a lien on the property.
