Oxford Police Department Officer MacKenzie Rogers has made history by becoming the first female K-9 officer in the department.

Rogers will partner with the school resource officers at Bramlett Elementary School as the handler for the SRO K-9.

“I am deeply grateful to the department for allowing me to grow and learn so much since the start of my career,” Rogers said. “I am especially thankful for the opportunity to become a K9 officer.

“I cannot wait to continue my training to better serve my community. Thank you to OPD and the Oxford community for helping me achieve so much and make significant strides in law enforcement.”

OPD Chief Jeff McCutchen said Rogers has been a valuable addition to the OPD team since she began working for the department.

“She brings fresh perspectives, fosters community relationships, and demonstrates professionalism and dedication, making her an excellent choice for our next K-9 officer,” McCutchen said. “It is with great honor that we acknowledge her historic appointment as our first female K-9 officer, marking a significant milestone in our department.”
