Internet outage caused by a ‘series of unfortunate events’

NE SPARC fiber internet customers lost their internet Wednesday night for several hours due to a “series of unfortunate events.”
According to officials, much like North East Mississippi Electric Power Association gets its power from the Tennesse Valley Authority, NE SPARC uses outside providers for the internet.
The primary provider they use, and multiple secondary providers, all experienced outages due to damage on their fiber lines. The damages were caused accidentally in other parts of the state.
The service was restored to most customers around midnight.
“Our goal is to continue offering excellent customer service and support,” said Sarah Brooke Bishop, communications and marketing manager NEMEPA and NE SPARC. “We aim for transparency when we post updates to our social media and website. While some things are beyond our control, we are constantly evaluating and improving our system to prevent future issues.”
