In its current life, the building off the Square on Jackson now holds Funky’s. But in a past life, it was a player in the American Dream.
As a teenager, Albert Fenger fell out with his father and left Arhus, Denmark, for the United States. He made his way to Oxford and, with his young and growing family, opened the Oxford Creamery Company in 1930.
The Fenger family and their cold smooth ice cream and the sweet smell of the shop are still remembered today by the town’s senior citizens.
