Visit Oxford announced Wednesday that Oxford secured the No. 1 spot as the “Best Small College Town” and the No. 4 spot as the “Best Small Town Food Scene” in USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

The contest, which featured 20 destinations across the country, allowed USA Today readers to vote for their favorite small college town and small town food scene from March 4 to April 1, with winners announced April 10.

“We’re thrilled to be named the Best Small College Town and one of the Best Small Town Food Scenes by USA TODAY 10Best,” said Kinney Ferris, executive director of Visit Oxford MS. “It’s an incredible honor to receive national recognition for what makes Oxford so special, from the school spirit that can be felt all over Oxford to our many acclaimed chefs and restaurants.”

Nominees for all categories were chosen by a panel of relevant experts, which included a combination of editors from USA TODAY, editors from 10Best.com and others.
