Oxford sweeps Horn Lake after 16-2 victory on Monday

The Oxford Chargers completed the series sweep over the Horn Lake Eagles after a 16-2 victory on Monday.
Oxford (16-8) plated six runs in the bottom of the first on two hits and three walks. The inning was capped off as three (of the six) runs were scored on an error to right off the bat of Sharpe Smith.
The Chargers starter Barrett Kamman allowed a hit in the first inning to Horn Lake. Kamman then kept the Eagles off the board through the third inning.
In the third, Oxford broke the game open with an eight-run inning as Reid Kent delivered a grand slam to left field. Oxford leads Horn Lake 14-0.
Kent finished the game going 1-for-2 with a grand slam, two runs and four RBIs.
Kamman pitched 3.0 complete innings and surrendered no runs on one hit with a walk and three strikeouts.
The Chargers brought Jack Hill to the mound in the fourth to face the Eagles. Hill tossed a 1.1, allowed two runs on three hits with no walks and three strikeouts.
Horn Lake tried to get on the scoreboard in the fourth as they had runners at second and third but didn’t score.
The Chargers added their final two runs of the game in the fourth inning to make it 16-0.
Horn Lake got on the board in the fifth as they plated two runs on a double to left that made the score 16-2 in favor of Oxford.
Hayes Huggins came into the game in the fifth with one out to close down Horn Lake top of the fifth.
Oxford returns to action on Thursday as they take on the DeSoto Central Jags. The first pitch is set for 7 p.m.
