The Oxford Film Festival, held last month on March 21-24, had more than 1,000 people come to watch films of all genres.
Most of the films were shown at Malco Theater.
Executive director Matt Wymer said about 80 filmmakers from around the nation and world came to Oxford for the event.
“We also had a lot of local filmmakers attending,” he said.
The festival included some new offerings this year including more comedies and new sci-fi and horror categories.
“We looked at what was popular in our community and added more local stories, more short films and more fun things,” he said.
The festival also offered more accessible screenings with audio captions and sensory screenings.
“We had screenings for people with sensory issues if they needed a brighter environment or lower volume,” Wymer said. “We make sure the audience experience is one of our top properties.”
There were 120 narrative and documentary features and shorts, experimental films and music videos. The films included two feature-length documentaries and 27 short projects set in Mississippi. Other films come from the United Kingdom, Australia, China, Iceland, France and Germany.
