Oxford Community Market recognized its volunteers Tuesday in celebration of National Mayor’s Day of Service in conjunction with National VISTA Service Week.
At the Old Armory Pavilion, Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill handed out certificates to VISTA and community member volunteers who help with the market and the market’s outreach programs, like the Community Garden at CB Webb.
Tannehill also thanked Betsy Chapman, OXCM director, for her hard work growing the market beyond a weekly farmer’s market.
“There are so many things that go on behind the scenes and Betsy leads the charge,” Tannehill said Tuesday.
Volunteers received a “Golden Egg Service Award” certificate for their “eggs-cellence” in community service.
Sharon Duke, Chapman’s mother, and the Oxford Garden Club provided refreshments.
