Brittany Estates apartments is expanding its office building to offer additional services to its residents, according to paperwork filed with the Oxford Planning Department.
Century Construction filed a site plan amendment with the city that was heard before the Oxford Planning Commission on Monday evening.
The plans call for expanding the management building by adding additional amenities for the residents. The building expansion will include a community space and kitchenette, a business center and a maintenance room.
The new addition will be built on the east side of the existing building and will more than double the management building in the complex.
The expansion of the management building may be just part of a bigger renovation project. According to several residents who contacted the Eagle, many have been told they have to move but were not told the reason; however, phone calls to management have not yet been returned.
Brittany Estates, located behind the Brittany Woods subdivision, was built in 1999 and offers affordable housing options with rent ranging from about $400-$750 a month depending on the number of bedrooms.
The Planning Commission approved the site plan amendment unanimously with no discussion.
