The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department released additional information about the vandalism at Union Grove Cemetery that occurred Monday night.
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s department took a report of a vehicle being stuck in the historic Union Grove Cemetery off County Road 432.
When deputies arrived, they traced the Mississippi license plate and were able to find out about the owners of the vehicle.
Deputies contacted the owners, who said their son, later identified as Nathaniel Richard Stone, 24, of Oxford, was in possession of the vehicle.
Stone was later charged with destroying public property, church buildings, or certain cemetery items.
He was taken to the Lafayette County Detention Center where a Justice Court judge set his bond at $10,000.
