The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Lafayette County.
The advisory will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Freezing rain is expected to begin in the morning and through early afternoon.
While total ice accumulation is currently listed as “a light glaze,” it could exacerbate already icy conditions causing slippery sidewalks that appear to have been cleared and black ice conditions on roadways.
The hazardous driving conditions could impact morning or evening commutes on roads and highways where many are still covered in snow and ice from Sunday and Monday’s winter storm.
The temperature during the day Thursday is expected to hit about 36 degrees; however, it’s expected to drop back down to around 23 degrees at night.
