Powder in the Park

Archer Beach rides a sled in Avent Park as snow and sleet fall in Oxford on Monday, Jan. 15. Four to six inches of powdery snow covered Lafayette County, with only a minimum amount of ice, leaving roads slippery, but power lines intact.
The blanket of snow was perfect for sledding and general frolicking in the cold. Schools and many businesses continued weather closures Wednesday, with some planning limited hours or shutdowns through Thursday and Friday.
Until temperatures rise above freezing long enough for ice to melt from roads, many retail outlets and community services will have limited hours of operation.
