Catrica Hardy, 34, was arrested Jan. 8 by the Greenville Police Department after a child’s body was found in a closet. Hardy faces charges of manslaughter and child deprivation of necessaries with substantial harm, according to a police press release.
The release stated that around 4:30 p.m. Monday, the Greenville Police Department received a call about a welfare concern of a child on the 2000 block of Johnnie Lane. Officers spoke to a parent of the child, who said the child had not been seen for weeks. The parent had arrived at the Johnnie Lane house to talk to the relative who was caring for the child at that location.
The press release stated that police were later led to where they found the child’s remains in a closet. The body was taken to the crime lab for an autopsy.
Hardy is currently being held in the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
