Community Church Oxford is set to hold its annual Christmas Eve service at the City Hall steps, starting at 5 p.m. This event, now a staple for eight consecutive years, promises a festive evening filled with Christmas carols, candlelight, and the story of Christmas.
The service is known for its engaging format, featuring the Christmas story and communal singing under the Square’s lights, culminating in a candle lighting ceremony. Attendees are advised to bring heaters, blankets, and lawn chairs, although some seating will be provided. Due to the event, parking restrictions will be in place in the Square area in front of City Hall after 3 p.m. on December 24, and certain streets will be closed to traffic until the event concludes.
In addition to the service, the Community Church has announced a heartwarming initiative on social media. In collaboration with The Farmstead in Abbeville and Holding Hands, they are offering free Christmas trees and tree stands. This gesture is a testament to the community spirit in the Oxford area and the church’s dedication to spreading holiday cheer.
Community Church, located at 68 Highway 334, Oxford, MS, holds its Sunday services at Lafayette High School Gym at 9:45 a.m. The church office is open Monday to Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
